Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is a famous American woman who is a businesswoman. The current president is and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a California born and raised in a well-off family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur with a real estate business who later became owner of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated after her parents split in 1972. Her family's business was started in the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. She founded later in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. Her first role was vice president of Lakers before taking on the role of President of Great Western Forum. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder up to his death in 2013, inherited this ownership through an estate.
