John Denver, a singer-songwriter born in Colorado that specialized in folk pop music was a hit with millions of fans. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in affection with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Many people traveled to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. In the present, he's seen as the symbol of Colorado by people throughout the world. Certainly in my travels you meet someone from the opposite part of the globe, someone of New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado The first word to come you hear is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short stint in smaller folk-based groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song in conjunction with Johnny Cash in mind but when Denver saw an early rendition and listened to it, he was convinced that the track could become the next hit single. Just a couple of days after performing before a large crowd within Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
